Scene Makers Q&A: Seebeck's Karaoke to Success
Want to know the secrets of a thriving local business? We sat down with Mike Seebeck, owner of the wildly popular karaoke bar "Seebeck's," to learn how he built his empire from scratch.
It all started with a love of singing, right?
"Totally. I've been singing karaoke since I was a kid. My parents used to drag me to those cheesy bars with the giant TVs and cheap beer. I was hooked! But I always felt there was something missing—it was never really about the music, it was just about getting drunk and screaming into a mic."
So, what made you decide to open your own place?
"I wanted to create a space where people could really express themselves. Where the focus was on the music, the community, and having a blast. I knew I could create an atmosphere that was fun and welcoming for everyone."
And it seems to be working. Your place is always packed.
"Yeah, man. I'm so grateful for the support. It's all about the energy. We have a fantastic team who really know how to get the party started. We're constantly trying to come up with new ideas to keep things fresh, like themed nights, live bands, and even karaoke competitions."
What advice would you give someone who wants to start their own business?
"Be passionate about what you do. Don't be afraid to take risks, but be smart about it. Surround yourself with good people, and most importantly, don't forget to have fun! If you're not enjoying yourself, it shows. And remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Keep hustling and you'll get there."
Seebeck's is a testament to the power of hard work and a passion for music. This karaoke haven has become a beloved local institution, bringing people together and making memories that last a lifetime. So the next time you're looking for a night of fun and laughter, be sure to head over to Seebeck's. You just might find your inner rockstar!
