It’s that time of year again! The air is crisp, the leaves are falling, and the sweet smell of candy fills the air. It’s Halloween, and everyone's excited for costumes, trick-or-treating, and spooky fun. But with all the excitement, it’s important to remember safety.

The Laredo Police Department and Myers want to make sure you have a fun and safe Halloween. We’re here to remind everyone about some important safety tips to keep in mind:

Trick-or-Treating Safety

For those little goblins and ghosts:

• Stay with a responsible adult. Never go trick-or-treating alone, especially in unfamiliar areas.
• Wear bright clothing or reflective gear. Make sure your costume is visible to drivers, especially at night.
• Check your candy. Don’t eat candy that is not in its original wrapper.
• Be careful crossing the street. Look both ways, and use crosswalks whenever possible.
• Don't approach unfamiliar houses. Stick to well-lit areas with recognizable homes.
• Don’t touch anything at unknown homes. You never know what you might encounter, so stick to trick-or-treating at known locations.
